Ungubani?
...means "Who are you?"
...I've been asking myself that a lot lately!
Anyways...this is just a quick post because I don't have much to say, and also because I don't have too much time. But, toooooo many people have been calling/emailing because they say I sound upset...not to worry, ...everything is going really well here! It is mostly stuff I had expected but still is difficult to deal with...the hospices tend to be really hard for me but the kids at the orphanage are great. I know I'm not supposed to but I have favourites that I like more than others. Nalede is the sweetest girl ever...she always asks me "Is you my friend?" Very cute. Nonguile is another cutie...she rolls her 'r's so when she says my name she says "Rrrrrrrrrrrresh, come" (they all just say resh, its much easier). Soooo cute. Sne is only two but she is also really cute...same with mubanga...wandele is the kid who I think is deaf. Hannah calls him the devil child but he's super funny to be around as long as his diaper doesn't need to be changed (which isn't very often!). There are so many more...no time to go through them all, but suffice it to say that they are making things over here much easier for me!!!!!
This weekend I went to stay at a Zulu village. It was pretty interesting...made grass necklaces and beaded. The kids did a dance for us and then we had to dance...it was pretty fun. Then we came out of the hut and they were all selling beaded stuff. I bought some just cuz I felt bad...it was really awful trying to choose who to buy what from though. Anyways...long story short,...we stayed in a hut with cockroaches and other gross bugs. But I survived...it was fine in the end!!!
Got a little sick on the weekend but it's mostly cleared up...but our house is quite crazy right now because there is eleven people living there! So insane!
Oh...some people have been asking the best time to get a hold of me...Canada is six hours behind...so the best time is either in the afternoon (between 11 am - 4 pm for you guys) because we get back around 4-5 pm from work...and are usually home all day. Otherwise, weekdays its okay to call before 8 am my time (2 am the day before for you guys)...but weekends we sleep in, so try not to call too early! It's really hard for me to call anyone...so I apologize for my lack of phone calls in advance!
Quick shoutouts:
Kaushik & Niki -- who got married last weekend! Congrats!
Amee -- who got engaged last weekend!!!
Dhanraj Uncle, Amita Auntie, and Gaut -- who called a few days ago
Seema -- who I keep forgetting to say hi to, who also came to the airport to bid me farewell (i think i forgot that before)
Mom & Dad -- who always complain that they dont get shout outs even though they call. But they have to call, they're my parents!
:)
Lots of love all,
Resh
